A simple and rapid extraction of lipids in plasma using spin column with superabsorbent polymer beads for mass spectrometry

Abstract The efficient extraction of lipid species in plasma was developed for quick sample preparation and accurate analysis, using spin column with superabsorbent polymer beads (SAP), as the improvement previous SAP method reported before. modified (mSAP) is composed simple steps, including loading, swelling, solvent addition, centrifugation, drying resulting solution. mSAP offers several advantages over conventional methods analysis sample. approximately 10 times faster than Folch protocol (Matyash method), methyl- tert -butyl ether based method. offered an excellent recovery rate most all major classes standard mixture, outperforming Matyash limit detection (LOD) 1,2-diheptadecanoyl- sn -glycero-3-phophocholine (PC 17:0/17:0) spiking by about seven lower those methods. relative deviation (RSD) values inter- intra-day variability a 5-day period were significantly has been shown to be more time-saving, sensitive, reproducible reliable, evidence its processing time, LOD, RSD high different classes.
